Description
The purpose of this session is to introduce the Traumatic Brain Injury-Reporting and Data System (TBI-RADS). TBI-RADS is a system to standardize the reporting and management of imaging in patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). It allows the radiology community to apply consistent terminology related to the diagnosis and reporting of TBI, reduce imaging interpretation variability and errors, enhance communication with referring clinicians, facilitate quality assurance and research and, in the long run, improve patient outcome by standardizing management using evidence-based medicine. In this session we will introduce the classification system and focus on the uses of TBI-RADS for diagnosis and management, research, and interpretation.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- List the major classifications in TBI-RADS and define their meaning.
- Describe how TBI-RADS can be used for research and machine learning.
- Identify imaging features associated with TBI-RADS common data elements related to intracranial injuries including epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, non-aneurysmal SAH, contusion, and herniation.
