The purpose of this session is to review the impact of medical errors in the radiation oncology practice. The session will highlight the economic case for transparency and disclosure for preventable medical errors and how physicians can learn from medical errors. The value of transparency for patients and their families will also be discussed.

  1. Describe the frequency and impact of medical errors.
  2. Discuss the need for transparency.
  3. Explain what you can do as a clinician to disclose and learn from medical errors.
