The purpose of this session will be to highlight opportunities within the radiation oncology community for conducting comparative and cost-effectiveness research as well as methodological designs that can be used to conduct comparative effectiveness research. The session will also highlight potential downsides and ethical concerns related to comparative and cost effectiveness research.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the differences between comparative effectiveness research from traditional efficacy studies.
  2. Discuss the different methodological designs for conducting comparative effectiveness research.
  3. Identify challenges with conducting comparative effectiveness research for radiation oncology.
