Amyloid Brain Imaging: Clinical Application in the Evaluation of Dementia

Description

The purpose of this session is to familiarize participants with clinical applications of amyloid brain imaging with PET in evaluating dementia. The session includes an overview of the causes of dementia and use of amyloid imaging in its differential diagnosis. Appropriate use criteria (AUC) for amyloid brain imaging will be discussed and will include the ethics of its use as a screening test in healthy individuals. Currently approved radiopharmaceuticals for amyloid imaging and the technical guidelines for their use will be reviewed. Qualitative and quantitative image interpretation will be discussed with reference to specific case studies. The session will enhance the attendees' ability to incorporate amyloid brain imaging into their clinical practice.
