The purpose of the session is to identify strategic initiatives that can be used in practice. In an increasingly challenging and changing healthcare environment, radiology practices/departments must learn to think and act strategically to assure near and long term success for their practice/department. Leading through change was the theme of the 2015 RLI Leadership Summit. The course serves to bring an element of the Summit to ACR 2016 with a brief introduction to the principles and basic methods of strategic planning and strategic acting with an emphasis on scenario testing as a means of assessing how current and proposed plans might hold up under a variety of extreme changes in the future. Following this didactic introduction, the bulk of the session will focus upon real world events affecting five radiology practices and the use of strategy to successfully weather a changing environment. Leaders from each of the practices will present the issues that faced their practices, prospective and retrospective applications of strategy principles to emerge from crisis, and tools for motivating new practice directions across their groups.
