Description

The purpose of this session is to provide insight into the organization and implementation of quality improvement programs within the framework of practice, departmental and institutional structures, as well as achievement of compliance with external regulatory requirements. The course will focus on methodology to achieve physician participation in quality initiatives, work within the framework of institutional culture and bridge gaps that exist among clinical departments. The topics to be covered are highly relevant to physician leaders and others with administrative responsibility that encompasses quality. Providing value requires significant investment in the process of quality improvement, but it has the ability to better integrate radiology with clinical peers, demonstrate utility to the institution and improve patient care. Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the economic, structural and cultural variables in the implementation of quality initiatives that must be considered for success.
  2. Describe principals of behavior that are applicable to individual and group performance.
  3. Select projects that are meaningful to all participants, including external regulators.
  4. Recognize potential pitfalls that may interfere with successful quality program initiatives.
