Description
The purpose of the session is to provide radiologists, administrators and IT professionals with a better understanding of the process of implementing radiology clinical decision support in the inpatient, emergency department and outpatient environments. It will cover developing the business case and coalition building for successful approval by the C-suite, the options and required decisions involved in initial implementation, the management of ongoing continuous process improvement in imaging utilization, and opportunities for working with commercial and government payors. There will be discussion of general concepts applicable to any CDS, but it will emphasize and demonstrate the specifics of ACR Select implementation. This course will provide valuable detail and insights for all radiologists and administrators as they implement CDS in order to comply with CMS requirements under PAMA.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the steps in acquiring administrative approval including developing the business case, building coalitions among the medical staff, and the importance of executive sponsors.
- Assess how to work with the local EMR team, how to organize an implementation team, understand the various go-live options and strategies, and the specific decisions that are required for successful initial implementation.
- Describe the keys to using CDS to improve imaging utilization through working with ordering providers, the medical staff, organized provider organizations, and commercial payers including as a potential substitute for radiology benefit managers.
