ACR2016VM22 - A Global Approach on Radiation Dose Reduction

The purpose of this session is to provide a global perspective of the strategies used for radiation dose reduction. Highlights include a discussion on the Eurosafe Imaging initiative, European recommendations for pediatric imaging, and a review of diagnostic reference levels. Additionally, the session will focus on ACR Dose Index Registry and status of US diagnostic reference levels and how to improve performance and alleviate radiation concerns through use of radiation dose data. Developed in conjunction with the European Society of Radiology.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review global strategies used for radiation dose optimization.
  2. Discuss the Eurosafe Imaging Initiative including pediatric imaging.
  3. Define the ACR dose index registry and diagnostic reference levels.
